Which Shocker kit for a $500 budget?

I have a friend wanting to get some decent horns for his car, and he wants to spend no more than $500 total. He already knows real train horns are out of the question, since the cost of horns alone will meet/exceed that budget. I turned him on to the Shocker kits from Hornblasters. I’ve never really looked at the kits before, and know sometimes things change (what the kit includes, etc)…so I decided to make a new thread just in case there have been some changes. I’m sure this question has been asked 1000 times over, I just want current suggestions. Don’t beat me up too bad for that. :o

Let me know what you guys recommend. He definitely is seeking “trainhorns”, I think volume is his #1 priority.

Im running these and they are great. Have had them quite a long time and only recently had to replace the compressor. Kit has everything you need but i always recommend a nice kit of misc electrical things and pieces such as extra wire, heat shrink, clips and other bits.

Cool deal, thanks for the feedback. You have any videos by chance?

That’d be great, thanks!

Here is a quick walk through i did about 20 minutes ago. Sorry it took a day. Gives you a little idea of the shockers up close. i’ll try and get someone to help out so i can get the sound from a distance.

Cool deal, thanks man! Those definitely seem to have some good volume, that kit should work perfect for my buddies son.

Hornblasters has a deal lasting through today at 8 eastern. Name your price on the kit you want. Just call or email them.

I’m sure I will have some videos to share.

Didn’t even cross my mind to get any good pics of the setup, until late. I only got a couple.

One big benefit for Shockers is the lightweight plastic bells. You can literally do any installation you want with them, for locations on mounting. Plus you don’t need anything heavy duty for mounting them. We used this light steel angle bracket material to mount the bells close together. Even had room to stick the valve on there as well…

Found a nice clean area to mount the compressor/tank, on the passenger side of the bed…in the front fenderwell. We are going to add a custom mudflap to the front, to keep the debris/direct water from the tire.

And a trial fit of the horns, before trimming the final cage/mount assembly and mounting it up with hardware. We were still able to keep the spare mounted underneath too.

Very nice installation and mounting! I would suggest, however, that the compressor and tank not be mounted upside down. It is going to wear your compressor out faster as the heat is rising up, back into the compressor, instead of out. With you’re particular compressor and tank, mounting it this way also will not allow you to drain the tank of moisture on a regular basis. Just food for thought

Also remember the moisture only adds up, so if you have a 3gal tank and have 1gal of water in it, now you only have 2gal of air, which in the end means less play time

Yeah, we didn’t have much choice in the short notice we got for the install. We are hoping he’ll acquire a toolbox soon. If so, the tank/compressor is the first thing that will go inside.
