So I am ready to buy a set on horns for my truck. I think. 2000 lifted silverado 1500. I am debating between the Conductor Special 232, 240, and 540. Any benefits to having larger tank other than longer blast times? May use to air up dirt bike tires every once in a while. Would I be able to use the 540 system for larger horns eventually? 18 years old, self graduation present lol.
If your planning on later horns just go ahead and get a set of k3ās you will wish you had bought them the first time.
I started with the 540 with shockers, then put the k5ās on it, then put a 12 gallon tank.
gotta o3 civic w 540 kit 2 years ago bigger tank is always better shockers are fun but there is no substitute for a nathan airchime lol my civic is loud as hell w the k3
Donāt buy the shockers first, you will regret it if you plan on getting bigger horns in the future. Did you know thereās a Nathan AirChime P3 on eBay right now for $420 with free shipping? Save up a little bit extra. Itās worth it.
You will NOT regret the shockers! I bought them and then bought a nathan airchime⦠I kept the shockers because they have there own distinct note that airchimes do not have⦠I love both sets of hornsā¦
Itās your choice. Those bu-ell horns are pretty decent for the price but probably only half as loud as a K3LA.
i have classic shockers with 5 gallon at 200psi and love it. use to have it with 2 gallon and 150psi and my new setup is much better
So with the stock 540 System would I be able to run 200PSI ?
Im SO far from being able to buy anything bigger that its not even funny. And If I went bigger in the future I would keep the shockers anyways.
So the census says spend the extra $70 on the 540 as to the others?
you would need a different pressure switch that is 165-200. The 540 comes with the 110-150.
K, I think I will prolly do the 540, and upgrade the pressure switch some other time, or depending on price, sooner. Haha
I bought the 3 gallon shocker set several years ago when it was called the āConductors Setā. I played with them for a year or so then upgraded to Nathan Airchime K5LA and a 20 gal tank. I only ran 150 psi through my Shockers and they sounded awesome. (200 psi in both the Shockers and K5LA changes the tone and is hard on them). When you hear a Nathan K5LA, there is no comparison or any Nathan at that rate. I still only run 150 psi through my K5LA. Good luck in whichever route you take. You will find good information on this site and many members willing to assist with any questions that you might have. Keep us posted and post plenty of pics/videos.
Itās better to stick with 150 psi.
ā¦Soā¦150PSI with a 5 gallon? or does tank size not matter?
5 gallon is a good start, and the pressure switch is nothing to change so a 150 psi rating is perfect.
Once you get more and/or bigger horns, adding another tank or going bigger is either a simple add-on or right out replacement.

^Wot he said^
Iāve had Shockers 540XL 2g tank and found I just did not have enough air for lots of honking, I then went to a set of Hornblasters finest K3ās and an 8.5g tank and they were perfect!
Iām now on my 3rd setup - another set of Shockersā¦going in as we speak, I love the shockers:D:D:D
I bet 90% of people who own the shockers donāt even know what company manufactures them.
Hint: this forum censors the name of that company.
what hornblasters??
Actually, a company called Bu-ell (without the hyphen) manufactures them. Go to their site, Bu-ellairhorns.com (again, no hyphen) and take a look in their automotive section. They actually manufacture real train horns with the quality you would expect from the company that makes the shockers.
It looks to be much more expensive on the sitewhomustnotbenamed.
