White Pass RR – Alaska

My dad & I cruised to Alaska last month and had a chance to ride the White Pass Railroad out of Skagway. They have around 20 diesel locomotives ranging from 1954-1982. I grabbed a few pictures…mostly of the horns.
#110 has a K5 with a couple bells reversed.

#108 has an M5.

Our Engine #104 had a K5 – all bells forward.

This guy would not honk for me since we were right next to the cruise ships.

I even saw a K5 in their yard that had debris/snow covers.
Just thought I’d share…

Nice one E2E, its great to see them Horns in their natural environment:D

Haha i do the same thing when i go to the train museum, all pictures of the horns!!!

That’s a nice looking M5 up there. Looks like it’s thick cast like the dreamcast or whatever the last M5s made were called lol…

Speaking of railroad museums Bryan, ours here in town has a 1956 S5T with 2 piece bells and bronze tab back power chambers. Ugh if they would only trade a horn for it lol

All the engines had M5’s up till a few years ago when they swapped most for K5’s me and a few other people were lucky enough to score some of the M5’s
