Well with all this recent rain that Tallahassee has had over the past week or so, some friends and I are going mudding tomorrow. My questions is, will the solenoid and compressor be fine in the water/mud??? I still have the intake/filter for the compressor mounted high and that will be out of the water and mud so I am not worried there… The compressor is on my frame rail under my truck and the solenoid is behind the bumper in the front of the truck…
i wouldnt take that truck mudding period.
LOL, I take her out a lot… It is just this will be the first time since I put the horns on.
i dont think you will hurt anything
You should be fine with a Viair or comparable compressor.
It wouldn’t be a good idea to mount an Oasis compressor on the frame of a mudder but if you did I would suggest turning it off until you rinse off the mud and let it drain for a minute or two, run it briefly and rinse again.
Just to be on the safe side:
Bag the intake filter and the horn bells while you’re out mudding. Use twist-ties and some used plastic grocery bags.
I’d also spray everything down well with WD-40 before you go out, so most of the mud can be easily hose back off. Mud turns into cement pretty easily and is the number one reason why my Tundra only goes into sand or dry dirt. I avoid puddles of mud like the plague. You can never get it all out… ask me how I know… lol
Thanks guys!
I am with lance. that is the best you can do, dont be like me and burry the truck and hit the horns…not a good idea.
WD-40, good call, I’ll have to remember that.
My muddin’ days ended promptly after I flipped a truck of mine one day while screwing around off road. - Right into a telephone pole.
YEEEEEEEEEEE HAW!!! Bubba, let’s go muddin’ !!
