Your horn froze up or the valve?
valve of course…
It was about 10 degrees here a couple days ago and I gave a good 10 second blast…and my valve froze open momentarily. Fortunately, it was kinda’ like I closed it slowly, like I had a GW valve or something. Really weird. Am I the only one running an ASCO valve? It seems pretty high quality.
Antifreeze will cause a small film to adhere to your horn’s diaphragms. I don’t think it could cause any serious damage since it’s mainly alcohol and a small amount of oil, however a specialist could remedy this misconception.
If you are concerned about the environment though, you should just stick to draining your tanks regularly. Antifreeze has been known to contaminate ground water supplies in enough concentration and does cause brain damage if consumed. Two cents as someone concerned about our environment.
