Wiring Help

Okay so I had to reinstall my shockers since i just got a new ride, and I can’t seem to get the wiring right.

I have a 4 pole relay trying to set this up how I want it.

-Toggle on the pressure switch so I can choose when I want the compressor to turn on
-Horn button to be active whenever I want
-Don’t want to have to have the car with accessory power on to honk

I had it set up in my escort so I could toggle the compressor power, but I couldn’t honk unless power was going to the compressor. The car didn’t have to be on to honk or use the compressor though and it didn’t drain my battery.

How should I wire this thing?

P.S. I have looked at the wiring diagrams on HBs but i’m still confused onto how to get the setup I want:confused:

also here’s a little template if it’s easier to draw (in MS Paint) than word it
I put the basics down already

Fused 12v to one side of the switch

Other side of the switch goes to pin 86 on the relay

30 gets fused 12v on relay

85 ground on relay

87 goes to positive lead on PS

neagtive lead on PS goes to positive wire on compressor

ground on compressor to ground

That’s how I have mine wired so whenever the pressure switch is closed I can turn the compressors on, and when it’s open it won’t allow me to turn the compressors on until it hits the closed pressure.

This will also allow you to turn on the compressors without having to have the key in the ignition if you so wish.

Also, fuse the positive end of the button for the solenoid, other side of the button goes to the hot lead on the solenoid.

Hope this helps!

it does man thanks a lot!

If you need a visual, let me know, I’ll draw you up the schematic in paint or somethin!

post up pics of this new ride!

Should be all right. I just need a horn button that works. I drilled a hole for the one I got and it’s defective. it’s always on whether you push the button or not

it’s a 96 crown vic interceptor with a '99 engine and tranny in it… it was used in NH for a police dept. so it’s got a nice spotlight and lots of power. I have some mustang rims i’m gonna be putting on it to make it look 10x better but here’s a pic (pre horn)

the rims will make it look like this:

Nicee. I want to trade my car for an interceptor one day

nice ride there bud

Right on man! Those are a pretty quick car!

they are a smooooth ride

thanks man

yea they are pretty fast… it’s a 4.6L, same engine as the mustangs. I think it’s geared a bit differently though
