3 Piece Manifold for K3LA - HElp

I love farmers manifold kit, but feeling Poor…

So im gonna attempt to make one myself…
Couple of questions.
When i remove the horns off the Stock Manifold how can i attach air line to the indivudal horns ??
Do i need to put a nipple on my bracket or is there an easier way ??
James

here is my start my remote manifold for 3 horns
approx $20 in fittings and 7 minute assembly…
also picked up an aluminum 1/4" thick angle 6’ long and 3" each side of angle.
This i will cut into 4-5" sections to mount the indivudal horns.
Have to dig up my threader thingy stuff to fit the air lines…

more to come

Someone Pee in the Wheaties this morning ???

My brackets almost done will post pics ina bit…

James

First one done…N I C E

Nice!!!

all 3 done…

off to an oil change and take a peek under the chassis

looks good… did you tap the threads in the aluminum angle ? or just force it in there?

Keep up the great creativity, and don’t worry about the Collectors who just like to look at their horns. =)

how much did all that cost u

Aluminum angle is not that expensive… he prolly spent $10 max =)

looks good to me

DIY Ftw

I tapped the threads - pipe tap from lowes

the piece of angle iron was $20 AND u can make like 15 brackets with it.

i cranked down the tubes and ground off the excess…

maybe like $50 invested…

i found a spot infront of drivers wheel completely empty may be able to fit all 3 horns in there.

i have yet to fire the horns since i got them, maybe b4 go out tonight.

i have access to a lift on sat and sun but gonna be killer Beach days.

as well some serious drilling into the chassis to mount these up, my have mechanic friend help when his shop not busy

James

looks good how is the bracket sealing off the bottom of the horn?

same way it does on the stock manifold: “O” ring:cool:

yeah briz the K horn has a o ring that fits into a groove on the horn. i didnt get o rings with mine and ended up making cork gaskets =)

Why keep downing all collectors? It’s getting sort of old man…

Because of these kinds of comments hondayguy… and all of the other negative/rude comments made by anyone who has come here and said they were a collector.

every time someone posts about mounting a k horn seperately they get questioned by “collectors” asking why would you do that/ why not put them out where you can see them

most people on this forum buy horns to scare people, they dont want their nice cars to look like some kind of industrial rig with horns stuck on top of the roof they want then where they cant be seen

this would be why people put them under their car/trucks and with small cars you usually will need custom brackets to fit a K horn (Cough cough Thehorndoc)

or if someone buys a cheaper horn than a nathan they get questioned about why did you buy that piece of junk/ you should have bought a nathan (Guess i dont need to say who said this one agian…)

Not every one has the money to spend on a $1000 horn that is why hornblasters sells a variety of different horns in different prices

I would have never spent the money on a k3 or a p5 or a kahlenberg i got lucky and made a trade… other wise i would have shockers… and yes i like them and yes i scare people with them…

just get over the fact that the majority of the people on this forum use their horns in a completely different way than a collector does…

lmfao haha thats true

I bought my horns from a Collector, he was happy that they would finally get used. He was surprised i was not 20 yo but double that.

I asked this in another thread, i do not want to damage the Diaphrams and was advised not to pump more than 150PSI into the k3la’s…
my switch now is a 200psi,

“”“should i get the viair 145psi switch or the some other brand 150 psi.”"""

does 5psi make a difference ???

still have not fired them up… but put all back on stock manifols and hooked 4’ hose up to it.
Report later…

thanks,
James

i run my k3 at 175psi and i love it!!! efore that i was running it at 200psi and nothing happens to the horns so go with 200psi or 175psi
