and as for products look at the big names. alpine, jl, pioneer etc. I have some questions: do you want to go for sound quality or big bass? how much do you want to spend? and what type of music do you listen to? if you can name those we could probably point you to the right stuff. and shipping is a bi**h for most online stores but you get a better selection rather than best buy. you can also check out onlinecarstereo.com and sounddomain.com

Name brands aren’t anything to stick to. Jl’s subs are great, look great, performance is very good but not the best. Type-r’s are fun, dont sound very good but can be VERY loud in the right ported boxes.
Never recommend a pyle sub, never buy a pyle sub, try to stay away from xplode…because its a lot of very poopy shounding bass not worth a crap over a stock system IMO. And never go by MAX POWER on an amp…doesn’t mean sh!t. Always go by RMS, and even then, using the full rms of an amp is next to improbable with box impednace rise. But that’s another story.
And last, box is EVERYTHING.
My box is built to specs, It is HUGE. It has 3 chambers before a common port. and Fi is Re but with a smaller price tag, Exactly same speaker, same hand builder. Re decided to get all like JL and get all money eyed so their engineer made his own company, great quality awesome sound. BUT I would rather have Fosgate amps from the mid 90’s instead of my MA’s, but don’t get me wrong they are great amps.

well for sound i like the bass, the heart pounding stuff. i kno all that stuff is expensive but right away im willing to spend $700. and the music i listen to is mostly rap and hiphop(trick daddy, lil wayne,david banner) mostly songs with alot of bass cuz my radio system in my room has alot of bass dont kno exactly but i can feel it in the walls when im coming up to my apt. so wat u guys are telling me is that i basically need to match the rms on the amp to the rms on the sub?

well if ur gettin 1 sub then those amps will work… cuz monoblock amps are only 1 channel… 1 sub…

idk yet whether its going in a dodge ram1500 or a crown vic. i was trhinking about getting a bandpass box for it
bandpass boxes are for vehicles that dont have alot of space for the subs volume to bounce off…
so u wouldnt need it in the crown vic at all… i know i have one, it has a huge trunk
Build a Chambered box, which gives you the best of both worlds, slow deep bass of sealed with fast hi bass of ported. Chambers are the key to the box, has to be to speck or will sound like po po.

U want a loud badass setup? Alrighty, for $700 buy 2 Alpine type-R’s 12’s off ebay with dual 4 ohm vcoils and a Hifonics BXi 1606D amp, have a box made, 4.5cu ft. net space inside, and tune the box to 34hz. And make sure its a well deisgned, WELL BUILT box. You won’t get much louder then that with the money.

gives you a lot of options as to how many of what sub you want to run. You can do 2 12’s, 3 10’s, or 4 8’s with that box, 4 8’s would be the loudest…you want a badass setup thats different, run 4 RE audio RE8’s
and a Hifonics bxi1606
and you’ll be set. right about at your $700 price range, bit more but trust me, well worth it
