Will we be expecting pictures or videos? Nobody ever seems to like doing FAR AWAY comparisons of the stock horns vs the train horns. Everyone does them up close, not realizing that it can be hard to tell the difference on camera.
Brand new or new to you? There’s a whole setup in our classified section right now from a stand up guy…
Anyway, welcome to the club!
Brand new tank and compressor. Horns were used. I was introduced to your forum after my purchase.
Snake River Truck in Boise on Broadway helped me finish my install 2 years ago. They just moved from Meridian … if you exit I-84, go north on Broadway under Federal Way. There’s a school on the right just before a stop light, go through the intersection and they are the third shop on the right.
Tell them the guy with the big blue Dodge and the crazy loud train horn told you about them. I need to stop by and pay them a visit when I’m home next summer.

I make it a habit to install all my own stuff, that way when it screws up I know how to fix it. Plus I have a heated shop so that makes it easier
fill out your signature block so we can know what year your cummins is. Few peeps in here have cummins. welcome to the club
The horns are here. Question though, why is the inlet on the horn itself so small.
Ummmm, those look like P series horns to me - and a P series ‘gullwing’ manifold. Definitely not a K series high manifold. Got any other pics of the bells from a different angle?
The orifice is what it is. People have been known to drill them out, but it’s not necessary. Although it makes them louder, it can decrease the value of the horns and increase wear & tear on the internals.
It is the P series my bad. What’s the pro and cons?
Never had em side by side but - iirc - they’re a little bit bigger - consume a little less air - have a little different sound. They usually have a slight startup squeal or ‘chiff’.
Those horns are p series on the gull wing base. P series are my favorite sounding horn. They have a nice mellow sound to them (still very loud). I ended up selling my P series a little while back and miss them from time to time. But the Kseries will keep me satisfied for awhile.
Thanks for the info, I am just awaiting some fittings and will start my install soon
Got my compressor, tank and tubing installed. Then I backed my truck out of the shop and drug the horns underneath the truck. Broke 3 where they mount to the manifold. Any ideas?
Ttt
Are they trashed or did the feet break off or ??
Some pics would help. A good welder can repair aluminum.
Pics in 5
At least it didn’t break into the air pathway. If you found somebody who could weld aluminum it could be saved IMO. Possible have to machine it flat again so the gasket seals.
There are people who repair horns also. Maybe somebody else would remember - isn’t there a place called the Horn Hospital?
Then there’s the question - how much $…?
I am taking them to a fab shop tomorrow and should have results to post soon.
