It only takes away if it’s pulling more amps. I have read that most compressors pull 25 amps, if this is true shouldn’t my alt handle it? I don’t have ANY form of electronics in the car, except for ignition and headlight/taillights. I don’t think that that a 5 minute fill would drain a battery w/the help of an alternator, I may be wrong. The Optima Yellow Top is a deep cycle battery, which is made for this type of application.
Texas. Most people that seel stuff on craigslist also have ebay pages or will work out some kinda paypal with you. I know a good placce on ebay to get brand new compressors too for cheap.
This is true. And also, the K5 hogs more air because of the longer manifold and two extra bells.
You’re right, the only way to justify the size is to put something in the picture side by side along with it like a cell phone or a CD. I dont know the dimensions but you can search for it or go directly to the manufacturers website, but if I remember correctly I think someone answered your question already.
Dont sweat it Curt. he didnt say anything to you directly. and also, in my opinion the K5 is a better candidate for 200psi becasue it uses more air anywa being a bigger horn and such.
You speak the truth. Moderation is key though. But I think if you played with the regulator and blasted it at 200 just to satisfy your curiosity, up close for sure, I dont think you would notice a big difference. you would still be grabbing your eaars and heart at 150. Plus Curt is running at 150 now anyways. Sorry Curt but it says so in your signature. lol
Well there is a certain amount of truth to this. He wouldnt be able to charge both batteries with his alternator, but with a Battery Isolator, he can run his comps off the second battery if thats what its being used for. The thing is with DC batteries, with them in parallel, the strong battery will equal out with the weak. So if he runs the extra battery down, it will drain the main battery down with it.
Not necessarily. 12V charging system wouldnt charge the other battery properly and there isnt much of a current draw difference because of the 12V load.
45A alternator wouldnt be able to keep up at all.
This is true. A battery isnt to solve dimming headlights. Alternators and batteries arent design for rapid voltage drops. However, capacitors ARE and should be added for dimming headlights. The thing is, the faster the alternator turn the more output, if you impose a constant current draw (i.e. compressors running for 2-3 min.) the alternator should keep up. But when they first crank up, thats the biggest draw there.
Run a second battery with an isolator. You WILL have to charge it though. If you get in a bind, you can hit a switch and tie the two together. I.e. need to start your car and battery 1 is low or need to charge compressors and batter 2 is low.
You’re right. But if he is gonna use it solely for that purpose then, more power to the idea. lol
Youre right, it aint gonna drain it. Good luck cant wait to see your setup when you get it done.
Do you think I need to separate it? And not have it run on my alt, just my battery.
If you get an extra battery, seperate it because your alt cant keep up with both. You can do that with a battery isolator.
If you dont want to, and you just have one compressor, you should be fine without an extra battery. You lights and stuff will dim a little but if you keep the tank size small, your compresswor wont run all that much.
I think I will replace the stock battery with a good dual purpose battery, and then do the above. Although I have been looking into converting the Geo into an electric car, if I go that route i’ll have tons of power.
lol. i feel your pain bro. I used to have a geo. 3 batteries 6 capacitors. but it was competition sound. Replacing the stock batter sounds like a good idea. Originally I thought that what you were talking about. lol
So I will either have to cut the spare tire pan or do something totally different. You guys were right, there is 12" of clearance. Which would be fine, but I regularly car pool and with 200 lbs of weights back there it sags tremendously. I am looking for alternate locations, but I can’t seem to find any.
Well I dont know which horns youre gonna get. The shockers are seperate so you can mount em anywhere. the possibilities are limitless. if you get Nathans then you have to order those brackets for them. theyre custom made so thats more money.
I need to talk to that guy that makes mount for them. If it ends up being cheaper to cut the spare tire well I will do that. I have been drawing up some plans, i’ll upload them and see what everyone thinks.
I may end up getting Shocker XL’s instead of a K3, but I read. " I wish I would have just bought a K3. " That and the damn just train horn sound.
I actually have my own version of the Shocker XL’s… 1/2" air line, and 3/8" normal host going to them… but I am getting a K3 soon…
k3 ftmfw
lol ^^^ I had a feeling that would happen.
I’m redrawing my plans for my “stealth box” I’ll take some pics when I’m done. Hoping I can use a sheet metal break at my school and do it easy.
If you’re not afraid to cut out your trunk…
Do something like this:
Hmm, I like that, is it yours? I can’t really tell what everything is. I probably will do that after looking at it. I will have to kick it at about a 45 degree angle to get the ground clearance I need.
thats a k5 and a k3 damn looks awesome
I wish I could see the brackets and stuff.
YUP. Cause I was certainly on my way to buy some shockers and then I read THIS ON THE HORNBLASTERS WEBSITE. "The Nathan horns listed here are actual railway horns used on trains in the US. These premium horns are the loudest, most authetnic horns we carry. " Plus all the youtube videos that support it.
fking bad a

farmer69 I think is his name on here. and he sells them on ebay too if Im not mistaken.
It’s the Terror on the Streets Marauder. There was also a K3 mounted in between the grill and radiator up front.
Its a custom steel plate with outlines of the horns cut into it. The manifolds were basically just sitting on top of it before the carpet and everything went on top.
The carpet wall that says HornBlasters.com is plexi is covering up the two 5 gallon tanks.
Below you can see three 450s and a water trap at the top.
Custom brackets work well too…
No doubt the K3’s and even P3’s are louder than the shockers, but don’t let that deter you. I have both and only have the shockers on my car. They’re just as fun and still scare people. I agree with everyone else though, you’ll like them until you hear someone blow a real locomotive horn beside yours.
