I looked at the kits on the hornblasters website, but none of them come with some type of T connector to split airline? I’m assuming they’re selling these kits in conjunction with our train horn kits? I see that they have quick connectors, but that’s it.
For this to work with your Train Horn air tanks, wouldn’t you need a T connector, 2 quick connects, 1 for solenoid, and 1 for inflation? Would adding a quick connect to a 1/2" line restrict the air flow creating a slight choke point?
Are you out of ports on your tank?
I would not put a quick disconnect on the horn.
The I.D. of those 1/4" quick disconnects is pretty small.
You could put a threaded Tee right on the tank (connected with a nipple).
Then permanently attach the horn to one side & put your quick disconnect on the other.
I didn’t know what tank you had.
So the 5 ports are used?
Air in, air out, pressure switch, safety valve, drain?
Just use a threaded tee to give you another port. You know - combine a couple things…
Don’t put the pressure switch & leader hose on a tee together though.
Take out the Safety / pressure switches put in a line that leads to a 5 port block (Kinda what you see on the Dodge) there you can run your safety/pressure in a remote location and have an extra port on the tank for what you want… That’s what I did.
I currently have 2 lines going to my K3, 1 to my Shockers, 2 Air in, remote air chuck, remote drain, pressure switch, safety blow off… as you can see I’m using 9 ports but I only have an 8 port tank. so remote like to the stuff that doesn’t have air flow through it on a normal basis (IE: Pressure switch, blow off valve)
n2ocharged do you have any pictures of your set up? I got an 08 F250 c/c and was thinking about an 8-12 gallon between the frame and steps on passenger side and 5 gallon between the fuel tank and transfer case on the driver side.
Skip, I have no idea where they are… I’m sure theres a thread on here someplace with the pictures… I have a 5 gal tank attached to the bottom of the bed above the drive shaft
I Have an old air tank that only had 2 or 3 ports.Made a 3 port tee for one and bought some of the 3 port manifolds the ones I don’t use are plugged.have a quich disconnect for an air hose…the setup works pretty well.
I just went to the local HW store and got a couple of 1/2" Male NPT x 3/8" compression fittings and then to a hydrolic shop and got some 3/8 airline (You can get air brake line from an autopart store too) and ran the airline from one of the 1/2" ports (You probably don’t have that many, but you could always branch off using a “T” fitting)… MUCH bigger orifice than the “relocation kit” comes with.
I’m using a 3/8" airchuck off the back end of the truck and a 50’ x 3/8" air hose to inflate what ever I need… I can probably get away with a 25’ hose, but I already had a 50’… I have all of my air stuff for my truck stored in the truck so I don’t leave something behind when I’m on the road… You may also want to consider buying a tire plug kit for when you have a flat tire… I’ve already used mine.
