INSTALL WITH PICS - K5LA - 12 gal tank - dual 444c's - '08 F250

Hey Jeff,

I want to put my tank and compressor in the bed of my truck as well (I also have the bed carpet so I like the board with rubber to keep in stable) and I have a couple of questions.

  1. Where did you get the rubber? I was thinking possibly just that heavy duty velcro cause it will stick like glue to our bedrug but may look into the rubber like you did.

  2. Did you drill a hole in your bed to run the wires and tubing? If so, where did you drill and did you use a rubber grommet to plug the hole and if not how do you run the wires from your bed?

  3. I would love to see how you did the manual switch if you finished it.

that looks nice for a five, clean too, but your half in line is killing you, i run a k6la with 3/4 line and it by far blows any train horn out of the water, expensive but worth it

Welcome to the forum “k6la”.

Looks great BigYela. Can you post pictures of the manual valve when you get a chance.

Yes I’ll look em up and post em, you have 2 444’s, viair rates those one per 5 gallon tank, what’s your fill time

theyre up now

with those horns facing to the front, do you have horn covers or debre cones to prevent rocks or objects gettin thrown into them?

That’s funny. I don’t tell them where it’s at, I just say “Press the little black button at your own risk…” I know they sit there and stare at it wondering, …what does it do??? One time it wasn’t even a minute before I heard the horns sound and a group of men yelping like little girls.

I bet that K6 eats up air pretty quick. What size tank do you have?

Hi BigYela
Sweet install
Am i correct in saying that when you fire off the k5la it also sounds the stock horn at the same time??
Thats what im seeing in the pics

[QUOTE=BigYela;42721Now all I have left to do is install the manual valve which will be installed in the cab next to the console, the digital air gauge, and clean up and hide all of the wiring.

Thanks for taking a look and any questions are welcomed!

Jeff[/QUOTE]

Did you ever get the manual valve and digital pressure gauge installed?

I just had a peek behind the scenes & unfortunately Bigyela has not been on since Oct 13th 2011

Thanks Pete. I’ve been a long time lurker and noticed way back when I first joined that he hadn’t been around. All of the collective knowledge on the forums here inspired the install of a K5LA on my Ford Raptor. That truck has since been sold and now I’m looking to take my K5LA install to a new level. While combing the forums again for more information I still found myself getting excited over Bigyela’s install. For wishful thinking I was hoping that maybe my post in his thread would trigger him to come back and not leave everyone hanging.

Seems like people get their dream setup then kind of forget about us  we have feelings to !!! haha
