K3LA, 8.5 gallon tank, Chevy S10

im gonna look around for one a little longer maybe. would the weight of the valve of those fittings hurt it? or would i just need to figure out a way to support it?

only thing i can seem to find are quotes where you have to special order them or if i find one long enough then they are always 3/8. im about to just give up and do 1/2 and call it a day. i wouldnt mind running 3/4, but the more i think about it, i really wouldnt have the air supply more than likely

thinkin about that.

Nah - stay away from that thing.
Don’t type hex nipple in your search. Hex nipples are always short.
Type brass pipe nipples. They are common.

I wouldn’t worry about supporting the valve unless it’s easy.

But would I have enough air supply to justify going through the trouble of running 3/4 line and fittings? 8.5 gallon tank and 2 compressors.

In the end probably not worth it for a single K3.
I’m pretty anal and I’m not doing 3/4 for my K5.

Just follow Silvy’s upgrade and do the 5/8" DOT with PTC fittings.
Not sure if he has a solenoid valve along with his Graham White though.

thats what i figured. i appreciate all the help though. lol

i dont plan on running a GW valve yet, maybe in the future though. i just want to order the parts soon and then just get everything plumbed and wired first.

any bad experiences with any of the digital gauges from HB?

You’re welcome.
I got my AZ digital from them, but haven’t hooked it up yet.

i jsut know a digital gauge will be easier than running a airline that long

http://s.hornblasters.com/diagrams/480C-DUAL-SCHEMATIC.gif

with that diagram^^^^ what size wire needs to run from the battery to the relay? and from the relay to compressor?

the switch power that the pressure switch needs, can it be the remote wire out of the back of your radio? all it is is a remote turn on to amps.

Is that a good regulator? I want one that I can hopefully mount to my tank, hence why I got 1/2. Wouldn’t this help supply air to my horns? And get a 165/200 pressure switch?

The black AZ digital gauge I got from them a year ago has been working just fine and was pretty easy to hook up.

Doesn’t the dual kit come with the wire? If not - 10ga for 2 compressors or 12ga for 1 compressor. Google wire gauge chart. Each 480c draws 19amps.

You can use the remote wire, but your stereo will have to be on - obviously.

Thanks man! this forum is great for help and yal are very knowledgeable. good to know people that have been down the road before and know good stuff to get, saves money and headache:) lol

No problem!

would it be ok to mount the compressors to the outside of the framerail? it will give me the most room…and type of shielding i should do for the weather elements or rubber for the mounts?

I’ve done that with both my tank and compressor. You should look at getting either a vibration proof mount or find a way to get some flat rubber (old semi-truck innertubes, etc.) to mount between the two.

I’m going to try and build something for my wife’s truck since she’s getting the K3LA and I’m hoping to finish my K5LL project.

does it matter which direction i mount it?

Not really, just as long as the length of the leader will reach the tank.

so its ok to bolt them to the frame? so they would be laying sideways…

Yeah, as long as it says it’s okay to do.

I just turned the mounts on mine so I could mount it that way:

See if you can do this, or just build up a mount with square tubing.
