Ok guys,I finally got the last piece of the puzzle today,my K5LA’s…Heres a few pics to start the thread off,I will be posting pics as I go.These are super nice and clean, all the internals have been replaced.3 of the bells and the manifold have been bead blasted but 2 of the bells have never been painted or blasted as you can see from the pics.Collector I got them from said 2 of the bells have never been used, seems like a likely story considering the condition, what do you guys think.Well these are my only pics at this time, but I will make some progress in the next few days, hopefully I will be tootin these things next week…I just added the rest of the pics of the finished horns, and the install…PM me if you have any questions,or need any help…Thanks!
Awesome! You will love them!
nice wish i could find me a set haha. looks good though
Good deal. Looking forward to pics as you go.
Hey guys I have a question. The way my tank is going to be mounted on the inside of the frame rail,4 ports will be facing down.Of course my water drain will be in one of those ports, but that leaves one compressor inlet, the pressure switch, and a gauge to also go in the bottom as well.I will keep it drained the best I can, but how will it affect the comp inlet, gauge, pressure switch, etc if any moisture gets around it.I cant put the 4 ports on top or there wont be a port on the bottom to drain.I dont know why they would build the tank where there wasnt a drain on the bottom no matter how you mounted it.What do you guys think??
Pressure switches are weather proof according to hornblaster sites. i dont think moisture will effect the other stuff.
With everything being on the bottom,im more worried about water draining into the pressure switch, gauge and comp hose…and if water gets down inside that stuff in the winter,im sure there is a chance it will freeze and bust…i guess ill just have to take a chance on it because i dont have much choice…
^ Your pressure switch needs to mounted in the up right position. If not, it will hold moisture and rust, and then stick. You also don’t want to use a cheap $10 pressure gauge from the parts store. They are junk and will not last very long.
^x2 learned that quick
U need to mount the pressure switch up.
Ok guys I have an issue, because of an online mistake I have 2 sets of K5’s,one is a canadian tuned horn one is US.Both are like new with rebuilt internals.Which horn should I mount on my truck and which should I try to sale.I guess with that said,is anybody interested in either of these horns.I will sale them for exactly what I paid for them which is $750 plus shipping. Also here is a pic of my tank and comps…
Keep em both hahahaa
but the canadian tuned ones sound more haunting i belive, try both out and see which one you like best lol
Its tempting but one of these have to go before the wife finds out or she will burn my azz! I dont care which one I sale or keep, they are both in great condition with all new internals.I know the canadians are harder to find and go for more money.
Tough decision… I think that the Canadian will be easier to sell.
Canadian sounds much better at 200 psi. American sounds crappy at 200psi. 130-150 psi canadian still sounds better. Regardless both are extremly loud. Thats awful pricey mistake.
i was thinking the same thing thats alot of money. what even happened to get 2 sent to you?
Long story!! But short version goes like this.Guy had the K5L’s on ebay for $900 I offered $750 and he took it,He was hard to get on the phone or email for a week, then I reached him,I gave him my debit card # and 3 days later no charge,so I called him up,asked whats the deal,he said card wouldnt go thru and he would call me back,no call, then I try him 2 days later no go.So I said screw this I will just buy a set from some where else, paid the guy got them 2 days later. Now a week or more after I tried dealing with the first guy another set of horns show up,no call,no email,he just charged my card out the blue and shipped me horns.Money was withdrawn, horns on my porch so I was like well no need trying to deal with this guy,I will just have to sale them.So here I am trying to sale a perfect set of canadian K5’s,its more money than most people would want to spend but its a deal on a set of perfect K5L’s.I would sale the K5LA’s for $650 if anybody would want those instead.
id be all over that but i dont got that much now. ill get back to you though if something comes up where i can afford them
Finally got my horn mount built and welded in,also got my tank and compressors mounted and wired up.Now Im off to paint these horns.I also added a pic of both my K5LA and K5L…The K5L is the black set,if anybody knows somebody that would be interested in the K5L,send them my way!
I really like the plate you made to fit the horns to. That pupy aint going nowhere!
