Thinking between 2 train kit for my Corrola 1998

Hi, ive been thinking between 2 complete kit.

http://www.pbmissions.com/p5-Dragon-Flame-Kit-166dB.html

and

http://www.pbmissions.com/p4-Maximus-Horns-Level-1-Kit-165dB.html

They both look the same but i was wondering if anyone know what is the best and durable.

And if anyone got a better kit for the price/loundess/quality ratio, be free to tell. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks.

Whats your spending limit because you should spend a tad more and get the shockers.

300-350$

Its not that important if it doesnt exactly sounds like a train, just need to be LOUD.

Well I would bare minimum get the shocker kit, but thats 479.

Hornblasters has alot of kits to choose from.

That is absolutely hilarious! 165db?? That is more than twice as loud as an authentic trainhorn. If this type of advertising is any indication of the company’s level of honesty, I would turn & run.

Hornblasters has a very similar kit (if not the same). It is less money and no where do they claim a certain db level. That’s reputable if you ask me. http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=psychoblasters-228-air-horn-kit

To answer your question though, I believe the Shocker or Rocker kits are the best loudness vs qualitly vs value. If your budget is a little lower, it might be worth saving a little longer. Depends what you want. Shockers are THE next loudest thing after a real trainhorn.

Welcome to the forums.

I forgot to say that i also live in north canada, winter can be down to -40c, does it matter?

The only problem is water freezing in the valve. It can stick open or shut. Some airbrake antifreeze in the tank should help.

Do i have to add anti freeze everyday?

Make sure the airline for the horn valve is attached to a high tank port so any liquid doesn’t blast right out. Then most of it should stay in the tank until you drain it.

In that case i should refill it every years?

As far as the kits go I’d recommend:
http://www.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=psychoblasters-228-air-horn-kit
over the first one. It looks like a fairly similar kit and in fact does use the same air source. There are a few distinct advantages with the HornBlasters kit though: the horn is constructed of higher quality metals that hold chrome for longer, and our valves are built to withstand a much higher pressure than any generic horn valve. This means the product will last you much longer.

As for the second kit: HornBlasters doesn’t sell anything very similar. The air source featured in the PB missions kit is undersized (1 gallon) and prone to failure. I’d recommend avoiding it and purchasing a kit using a trustworthy Viair air source.

or

are much better choices.

If you go the antifreeze route, you would indeed have to keep refilling it. It’s hard to say the exact amount of timing since it depends on how often you use the horns. Maybe someone here would be able to give you an estimate. You could alternatively purchase an alcohol evaporator (~$100), which would be much easier to maintain.

About as loud?

Welcome to the forum. You should be able to get by with a cap full just before each winter. Some solenoids, including the valve type, may have temperature limits. I think most are rated for -20 but I’m not sure if that’s C or F.

No, it’s my opinion that the shocker is much louder and bassier

Alright so im going to order the shocker kit next monday, is there anything important i should know about the installation on my corrola 1998?

Like what and where something should be so it would be easier for the antifreeze.

The first option in your original post is actually a Grover 1601 truck horn. You can buy these in a junkyard for $5-$10.

So if i put my the compressor in the car trunk, where should i put the horn on such a small car? Where should the power cable should pass to reach the battery?

Look under the car, maybe behind bumper or strapped up underneath somewhere. The power cable would be run under the car, or thru it, that is up to you.

Damn, the car is very low and i dont have anything to lift it up, but if i put them behind the bumper, wont the sound be more quiet?

what about in front of the grill?
