I have installed a couple of these on a few buddys trucks and they work great! Here in CA they are legal to have in your vehicle even with the air horn tone. But you can get in trouble for unnecessary use of horn or some type of noise polution citation.

I used to have the Whelen Cencom unit in my other truck but I was not pleased with some of the functions of the unit. Its cool cuz it has a traffic advisor controller and five switches that can be programmed to do what you want. The whole systrem can be programmed. Its cool but just not me.

I have since went with the Federal Signal SS2000SM. Completely programable and this and the one above are capable of 200 watts! Very loud! Read the specs on it, very versitile and can control mostly anything. This one has the remote control head which is easy to unplug and throw in the console or glove box when you park or get pulled over. I have gotten cought here in CA with them, they cannot take them away and you can have them but its illegal to use the siren tones. One of the coolest functions I like is the park kill. It is suposed to be hooked up so when the car is put in park the siren tones will be shut off so the officer can get out in a hurry and the siren will shut off automatically and not just sitting there wailing. I hooked it to a hidden switch so if I get pulled over the siren will not work, onlt the air horn and my legal lights do.

Yeah it just the air horn tone which is legal in most states. This one is cool because other than a microphone hanging near or on the dash there is nothing that says you have anything to hide (air horn can be activated with the stock horn). In some states its required for volunteer firefighters because they cannot have siren tones unless they are driving an authorized emergency vehicle. Laws are so weird and different on this…I used to go nuts with my siren tones when I first got one and also got in trouble a couple of times. If your careful and use it sparingly it will be hard to get in trouble. But keep in mind trouble depends on how much the officer or witnesses want to “bend” the truth!

Wow. Yeah i dont need sirens. I like the AIR Horn sound tho. I feel like I would be one of the people gettin in trouble with em. I almost got in trouble with the train horn for scaring people, but I was curious to know how it felt to scare someone. That can be very addictive but it aint right though. So I stick to my policy, I blast in tunnels, underpasses, and at stupid drivers. What speaker did you use with yours?
I have had many but now I only use the Federal Signal Dynamax. It is extremely durable and slim to mount. I have had two mounted on every vehicle I have owned. F250, Eagle Vision, Jeep Wrangler and more. They stand up to heat well too because they are an all aluminum square housing. They sound great too. I have used the plastic housing types but they can be a little fragile and easy to spot if your a cop! I had one mounted on the front bumper of my Jeep and no one was the wiser, but the speaker was a fairly new item at the time so most cops did not even look twice. Keep in mind all speakers are completely legal.
