Will this fit? (guesstimate shockers fitting)

Maybe I should stop complaining and just buy the P3 that suits my application? :stuck_out_tongue: lol

The guy selling the new horns on ebay said ā€œthe ones i have new are the gull wings not the low profile ones like on amtraks.ā€

Here ya go!
New cast- http://atsf.railfan.net/airhorns/p3_19up.wav

Old cast- http://atsf.railfan.net/airhorns/p3_24mikey.wav

I donā€™t think they sound that different.

And yeh, the gullwing manifold is the one you want if your gonna set it upsidedown, for it to sit flat.

I think I like listening to either one. The old cast is a little more chord like, but Iā€™ll still be happy. Seems like the new one has a bit more shrill to itā€¦

Oh, by the way, I think you are referring to a ā€œlow profile mountā€. Both guys who are selling the horns say they have their horn mounted on a gull wingā€¦and they both are the same one thats in your signature.

I guess I gotta find a low profile manifoldā€¦

The one in my sig is the gullwing just like the one in that video sitting upside down. The low profile is the one in the pic of mine I posted. You want the gullwing with all three horns mounted on top. LOL

Haha I must be tired ;).

Hey Marker, that seller on Ebay doesnā€™t know what he is talking about. PAT PENDING is the Old Cast horns, PAT PEND is the New Cast. Thereā€™s no way to have a new cast pat pending horn. Just letting ya know, you might wanna consider a different seller (especially if the one you are considering has the initials JPT). Oh and as mercer said, thereā€™s no way to tune a new cast P horn to sound like an old one unless someone lengthens or shortens the bells and even then it might not be achievable.

Glad you got all your locations settled. I can take a pic of how we made the mount in my brothers bed. Itā€™s just a piece of MDF with 4 small pieces of 2x4 underneath the 4 corners to raise it up. Just cut the holes for the horn and the PTC fitting to fit through. We screwed his to the bed but you could just strap the whole mount down.

Hey hondaguy, I think Iā€™ll be okay with mounting the horns. Iā€™m just gonna flip them upside down.

I think Iā€™ll eventually buy from taakersc on ebay. I hear good things about him and his horns already come painted blackā€¦ Thatā€™s a plus for me!

mercer - I got confused because the guy you bought them from had his horns mounted on the bottom of the manifold. So, the middle bell was higher than the two others. I didnā€™t realize you could do that on the P3. I only thought you could reverse them, but not take the bell off and mount it on the other side of the manifold so itā€™s lower.

This is referring to Marker227ā€™s post about the remote air intake. I have both my compressors mounted in the grille and I routed the air in take right next to the vehicle air intake. No problems so far and more importantly, no water.

Update:

Figured out that I can put both tanks on passenger side rail.

Compressor is going in front of radiator or on the inside of the driver side railā€¦(if I can make a bracket).

I changed my mind and decided to go with a K3HA. I do short blasts and Iā€™ve heard good things with horn length on 5 gallonsā€¦(given that IM using 4).

I had an idea of strapping the K3 to the spareā€¦ Iā€™ll only have about 4" from the ground. Is that too close? I have a feeling it is. Iā€™ll put it in the bed if that idea doesnā€™t work.

4 inches is kinda close. But im not one to talk reall, I havent measure my clearance but the HORN is a lot higher than 4 inches, the tanks is REALY close to the ground. I basically cant run over ANYTHING, so Im always looking for sh*t in the roads.

I would have to say that 4 inches is too close. I wouldnā€™t wanna risk knocking such an expensive horn off on something lol

lol yeah scaredu broke hisā€¦ lol hit pile of snowā€¦

Okayā€¦ itā€™s going in my bed then.

Got one tank on my rail tonightā€¦ Itā€™s very hard drilling the holesā€¦

Good Job! Mark its coming along nicely.

Tank number two. Just finished putting on the bolts.

I had to put it on brackets because I wasnā€™t able to drill any higher on the frame railā€¦ And the tank was LOW without it being mounted up an extra few inchesā€¦ So I tried my best to conceal it.

The brackets were a great idea. Itā€™s tucked up in there nicely.
Looking good!

Compressor was just bolted tonightā€¦ Iā€™ll get pictures later today.

How low my tank isā€¦

Is it me or does it bother anyone that my left tank is slightly lower?

I know you canā€™t really see it in this picture, but out in the daylight you can just see the fitting pointing out from the tank.

Update:

Everything is mounted. Shockers are good to go. The last things I need to do is drill a 1/2" hole in the side of my bed and connect the K3 to the air tank and then run the solenoid power and ground wires from the engine bay compartment to the solenoid.

Itā€™ll be done in a few days!
